Recycling Tip
Pretty short tip for today —
There is a recycle bin downstairs in my house. Everyone from the house puts recyclable things in there, and when it fills up, one of us, or a few of us together, take it to the drop off spot. We keep it loosely sorted, and the plan works well.
However, a couple of weeks ago I realized the small white trash can I had up in my room kept filling with paper. The paper would get covered with tea leaves, bananas, snot rags, etc, and then I couldn’t recycle it. I would put paper in there because it was more convenient than taking it downstairs to the recycle bin, but I realized that I always ended up with a trash box stuffed full of un-recyclable paper, mixed with compostables, and other garbage.
So I got rid of the trash can.
Now, I make a small pile of recyclables and trash by the top of the stairs, and take them down whenever I head to the kitchen. So far it works!
Do you have a trash can in your room or office that you often fill with stuff that could be recycled? Just get rid of it. It’s less convenient, but that way you’re not throwing away recyclable material.
